The surgeries all-in-all were not exactly the best feeling in the world. In fact, Rachael would have chosen to have each of her limbs pulled from her body and sewn back on rather to go through that surgery again. Still, it made her look more like a Na'vi. The large eyes, pointed teeth, long body and tail of course made people stare, but it was just fine with her, she never enjoyed fitting into the crowd.
She was in the recovery room, just toying with some of the stuff on the table beside her. There was some gauze, some scissors and a glass of water. She took a sip, leaning forward to sip at it. A sudden jolt of pain echoed through her spine and she remembered that she had not quite gotten used to her tail yet and had actually pulled on the tender spine in an attempt to sit up. Unwillingly, she laid back down and pulled her tender tail from under her, gently laying it to the side. For a second time, she leaned forward and grabbed her cup, grasping it firmly before taking a sip.
A long sigh of "ahhhhh" escaped her lips when she had finished sipping her drink and she leaned forward more. It was the recovery room, people were supposed to just lay there and recover, but Rachael had laid there long enough. She got up and bumped her head. "Ouch!" she exclaimed before remembering just how tall she was now. She kept her head bent down and held onto her tail with her hands, she had not figured out how to make it stop twitching around.

Jacob never quite realized how long it took to finish refurbishing the air filters around the compound he came to know as "Hell's Gate" from the former engineers that worked here. Apparently it was a time-intensive job, making sure all the liquid carbon dioxide and noble gasses were filtered out of the nitrogen and oxygen-rich air, not to mention all the hydrogen sulfide he had to dispose of in a safe fashion. Pandora's air was quite the little hellion for humans, poisonous no-doubt, thus it explained why there were so many exo-packs laying around. They were the lifeblood of oxygen for everyone who worked outside, and Jacob could sympathize. He was still trying to figure out what the modified exo-packs were for though; they looked like the antithesis for the ones meant to sustain human life, thus a logical explanation still eluded him.
Whilst he was headed for the one near the medical bay, he stopped just in time to see another candidate for the Avatar program moving about in the recovery room. Despite being in recovery, she seemed quite active, 'she' being quite obvious from the body shape and a little hinting from the back of the medical gown. Though Jacob didn't mean to get into quite obvious details, he figured that she being lonely in there wasn't very helpful for recovery, thus a visit was warranted. It wasn't like he was going to get in trouble for such actions, he just needed to do something else other than go at the air filters alone for so long. Going too long without human contact was not the best thing for one's health...
As he popped open the door to the recovery room, Jacob was sure to slip off his coat and anything else that might've been exposed to the chemicals he was using in cleaning the air filters, including his head coverings, gloves, and other such things, but he still kept his trousers and his boots on. Thankfully he still had on a sleeveless shirt underneath all his work clothes, otherwise he would've been asking for trouble when going on the casual side.
"How're you feeling? Looks like the surgeries went well..." Jacob asked the Avatar in recovery, trying to find a way to break the ice. Striking up conversation wasn't his strong point, but despite his shortcomings he wasn't totally lost to talking with people casually. Being an engineer, his strong points were machines and such. He never really cared much for the natural world, but Pandora was really something else, something so much more interesting and waiting to be discovered by those that didn't live here. He didn't want to defile the place of its natural resources, just to find a way to make everyone comfortable. Perhaps becoming an Avatar was a way to be comfortable outside the base.
