It had taken quite some time for Katelyn, but now she had accomplished her work. Her combat suit had been going under massive repairs at the base, for she had been working on the inside circuitry and pistons for quite some time, working on the flaws that had brought down the title of its name. The reason why it was being repaired was because it needed to be silent, the clanking of the machine was too noisey for her liking, as well the Na'vi who she had shortly made a partnership with, so she had to make sure she was not too much of a disturbance as she had been traveling around Pandora in the safety of the 'Wild Panther'.
It seemed that it was working perfectly as well as she had moved across the forestlands in quick speeds, yet with the silence of a skilled predator at work, as it was ment to be made as. Katelyn was just loving it, and you could just see it from the smile that seemed to be plastered on her entire face, if your eyes were quick enough to see her face through the cockpit window that is. She was happy about her progress, her newly-upgraded machinery was purely a success in her eyes as she had been jumping over the fallen logs of the forest, and landing on the mossy floor with little sound emitted from the paddings on the suit's feet. This made Katelyn very excited.
Suddenly, while Katelyn had been the thick forestry, she saw something that was very unusual to her, and had began to run towards the thing that she had saw. It only took a couple of steps with her suit to get to this place, and when she had arrived she had made a complete halt to where she stood and looked around the area a bit. There was nothing. That was the strange thing to her, for this was a gigantic forest with almost seeminglessly ever-going trees and plants of all sorts, but this land here... All it was was just grass all around the area, a bald spot really when you think about it.
Maybe the soil was not fit for trees to grow? That was what Katelyn thought as she knelt down to the soil and scratched up a bit of dirtwith one of her fingers as it had a a sensor on the tip to analyze the nutrients that was in the soil to see if there was some sort of poison to make the tree seeds die here. No, there was no poisons of any sorts, in fact, the soils here were so rich that it may not be able to allow the growth of trees in this area, but something must have been able to grow here... Maybe it was taken down? It was possible after all, since this bit of land could have been readied for use of some sort of organic tests or something to push away what vegitation that could have been grown here. But after three-hundred years, wouldn't have already grown back here again? Things did not make sense here, and she wanted to make it the sense she wanted it to be

Kawng fìtsenge. Marali stood just within the treeline, watching the stillness of the place where the Tree of Voices had once stood. She'd heard about it throughout her childhood, and when she connected with her beloved Eywa, she could feel the gaping hole in the forest where a beautiful thing had once grown. The torn roots and soil hurt her heart, and finally, she'd escaped Hometree long enough to find the source of her suffering.
Kerusey. It was an almost perfect circle of pristine green grass. As she watched, there was movement on the opposite side of the clearing. Several Lenay’ga slithered into view, only to disappear again. Marali snaked her way into a tree, in case they migrated her way. They were predatory beasts. She closed her eyes and rested against the tree in which she perched, running her hands down her thick, dark braid.
Nari si. Then, a sharp cracking insulted her delicate ears. She looked up, and her golden eyes found the shape of a human machine in the clearing. It fouled the soil. Unsure of the origins of this monstrosity, it didn't occur to Marali to fear this thing. She dropped noiselessly from the tree and traced the edge of the clearing carefully. When she was comfortable, she emerged, notching an arrow into the bow she always wore on her back. Was this thing threatening? She had no way of knowing. So she lifted the bow and pulled it back, waiting for the stupid beast to notice her presence.

While she had been testing the dirt of nutrients, the radar on the right side of her suit's cockpit began to make a slight beeping noise, so she glanced at it quickly to see what was the issue. It had been detecting a animate organic life form around thirty-seven feet in more of the lines of the east direction. Now, she knew for sure that whatever was around the area could have not been a predatory creature for it would have attacked her seconds ago, and no herbivore would dare try to come near something that looked a fearsome as her suit, especially if it had the claws out of the finger and foot tips that she designed for it. So it only brought up to one little solution, and that was this had to be a wandering Na'vi that came here as well.
Katelyn just sighed a little bit as she moved the body over a little bit to see if this had been her little partner buddy, Txe'lan, or if this was a different Na'vi she was being confronted with. When she saw the Na'vi that was a little distance away, she saw it was not Txe'lan in the least. This one was a female like herself, and her markings were much more different from the ones that Txe'lan had with him, as well the kindly nature just by looking at the bow and arrow that she had with her, obviously she did not trust her. Letting out a sigh, she pushed her mech back up to its feet slowly so it wouldn't scare the Na'vi into shooting her with the arrow, and like it would matter to her. The bloody stick would just bounce off the glass shielding, all the damage it would do is giving it a barely visible scratch.
"Unless aynga neu aylaru start a tsam, it's swey to put down your tsko."
She said while using both her own language and that of the Na'vi language, it was difficult to learn the language for herself, but that was because she couldn't learn it from putting some nerve endings onto a friggen tree like the Na'vi could, so she had to do it the old fashioned way. Now, seeing that she could still be a treat to this Na'vi with her suit and its weapons, she had decided it was best to get out and prove she was in no way hostile to the creature, and even if she did fire, at least she was testing out her prototype suit's toughness. Opening up the cockpit door wide open, she had deactivated the machine, allowing her to take off her gloves, and jumping out of the cockpit with ease.
Her suit was sort of basic in most terms when it came to display with the suit edging its way around the curves of her body, however, it was mostly white in color since it hadn't been properly colored besides the blood-red shoulder pads and the black pads under her shoes, so she looked kind of plain in comparison. Of course she had taken the standard mask of hers so she could actually breathe the oxygen, instead of having to suck in more dangerous chemicals on the the planet.
So Katelyn just stood there like a perfectly stable target with her arms crossed, as if she was waiting for fate to have it's choice on what it was going to do to her, though being less of a threat now that she was out of her suit, why would the Na'vi bother to shoot someone when they gave up almost all of their defenses up to them? Unless the Na'vi was a jackass, than that was understandable.

As the monster turned, Marali's keen eyesight penetrated the shielding. There was a female life form inside. She looked strange. Her features were twisted, and her skin was pale. Before she even spoke, Marali had lowered her bow. She wasn't normally aggressive, and this thing seemed to be at least a bit aware of the situation and was now moving more slowly.
The sun glinted angrily off of the metal contraption the human was encased in. Marali wondered if the small, soft-looking organic thing on the inside could separate from the violent-looking exoskeleton.
She kept her bow and arrow in her hands, dangling loosely, but assumed a more casual body positioning. She was startled to her the machine speak; though it spoke her native tongue, the language was badly broken. Despite this, she got the message. She looped her bow over her shoulder and reattached her arrow.
She could see that it would have little effect on whatever this was, despite her skill. She didn't know it's weak point, or if her poisonous shot would even chip the surface. Suddenly, she felt vulnerable. But it was too late to retreat back into the forest. She took a step back as it stepped out of it's gigantic outer shell.
"Faketuan fìpo. Kempe tsat."
As it touched the ground, she wondered if she was taller than it. From a distance, it looked large, but she still felt rather tall compared to it, now that the initial shock had worn off. She clenched and unclenched fists, nervous but curious. This this knew some of her language, but she'd never seen one of its kind before. Where did it learn?
"Peseng aynga nume Na'vi? Pesu karyu?
She spoke loudly, but in a conversational, slow way, as it seemed this thing wasn't entirely fluent. She simplified her sentences, and drew out her vowels, trying to be subtle. She found this thing, whatever it was, to be offensive, and wished she'd never ached to know what this clearing signified. Now she was trapped, with this alien.
She wondered if anyone at Hometree had seen one of theses, and made a mental note to ask around once she returned. Someone had been teaching it their language, but who?
(This thing is alien. What is that?) (Where did you learn Na'vi? Who is your teacher?)

[sixe=1]As she had been crawling off the exterior of her combat suit, she heard the Na'vi talk once more, and by tracing around in her thoughts of what this creature was talking about, though after a minute or so when she had been on the ground, she began to piece it all together in her mind into what it was, and jut brought one of her arms up with her thumb pointing towards her suit since the Na'vi was talking about it, obviously. So she would fill her up with details.
"Fì'u lu a upgraded DCL-52 Combat Suit, slä oe call it Wild Panther."
She said with some Dialogue of Na'vi in her words to try and not get the girl too confused, though the names that the suit had with it would have gotten her just stumped overall. But how else could you say it to be? A giant walking suit of metal? Maybe to this Na'vi, but to her it was a beautifully work or detailed art, and she wasn't even finished with it yet either, which made her very happy indeed. Though she couldn't be in Wonderland when she was in a world filled with threats, especially when they was a Na'vi who's tail was twitching out of uncertainty, so she just had to play it in a matter where both would be happy with one another, especially when you are trying to make sure you don't get mangled by someone twice you size and strength.
However, it came to the situation on where the Na'vi had been asking questions on who it was that was teaching her the Na'vi language, and this had gotten her a little nervous. For she knew that it would not be so wise if she gave out the name of her teacher and student, which could land him into a serious situation, which could also mean death to him and possibly her depending if they managed to catch her or not. Then again, if she said no to the female's question, it would just be her that was going to wind up dead, which would cause a war to rage indeed, but Txe'lan would be able to live just a little longer. So with a deep breath of oxygen to keep her heart rate stable, she spoke out to the Na'vi, silently praying that she would understand what she meant from her words.
"txoa oe pawm from you, slä oe cannot peng. Fpi my 'eylan."
Yes, she called Txe'lan a friend, for sparing her life and being able to teach her the language of the Na'vi, and she wasn't going to say it out to this Na'vi even if her life depended on it, a friend was a friend, no matter who or what it was, they always meant something to her.[/size]
(Translation: 1. The be a upgraded DCL-52 Combat suit, but I call it Wild Panther 2. Forgiveness I ask from you, but I cannot tell. For The sake of my friend. )

Marali felt significantly less threatened with the human separate from her large suit. The Na'vi female approached her slowly, carefully, her tail making agitated gestures behind her. The suit was a bit taller than her, she approximated that it was perhaps twelve feet tall, taller than any of her people.
But the bipedal creature that emerged from it was much smaller, almost half her size. Her heart rate slowed, and her breathing returned to normal. She inspected the Wild Panther from afar, trying to understand some part of it, but there was nothing familiar about it? Her face was noticeably drawn and puzzled.
"W-wild Pa-anther?" She choked out. The vowels this human used were harsh and difficult to form. Marali spat them out quickly, hoping that her short-term memory was accurate. She had a better name for this monster. Vrrtep. Demon.
Giving Katelyn a wide berth, she stepped towards the machine, extending a large, four-fingered hand to touch the surface. It was cold, and very hard. As she ran her fingers along a line of rivets on its side, she realized that it wasn't alive. She remembered it moving, and for a moment, was lost. How can a dead thing move?
"Tslolam," she said in a low voice. "Txoa."
She understood secrets. To fraternize with this...thing, could not be smiled upon. She felt a strange connection with this female, for protecting her teacher. It was kind, generous, very much appreciated by the young Na'vi female. She could sense this human had a good heart, despite her contrary inclinations.
"Sänume ke kawng. Tupe nga?"
(Vrrtep. = Demon.) (Tslolam. Txoa. = I understand. Forgive [me] (for asking).) (Sänume ke kawng. Tupe nga? = Teaching [is] not evil. Who [are] you?)

It seemed that Katelyn's words were getting to the Na'vi quite nicely with her what was probably to her casually walking towards Katelyn and her vehicle. Though she took a few steps back so that the Na'vi was able to have her personal space when she was around the two. However, it seemed that the Na'vi was a bit more interested on her combat suit than anything else really, and Katelyn sort of flinched a little when she tried to say out the words Wild Panther. She thought that all the Na'vi knew some sort of form of english with them from three-hundred years back, but then again, the only Na'vi she had met besides this one was Txe'lan.
For the girl's efforts on trying to say the name, Katelyn gave off a light smile and a nod to the Na'vi, she did get it right after all, why not give her the gratitude she deserves? But what The Na'vi said made her tilt her head a little to the side, why was it that the Na'vi was asking Katelyn to forgive her? She did nothing wrong, maybe besides aiming a weapon at her, but she didn't fire it, so she had to let it slide for the moment while the Na'vi had been concentrating on her machine for the time being.
But then The Na'vi once more began to speak, this time it had to take a bit more of her knowledge to understand what she had just said, but it was quickly thought out on what she was trying to say, and she understood most of what she was trying to say, so she had replied back to her, seeing that all she was asking for was merely her name.
"It's Zilar. Katelyn Zilar"
She spoke out as she began to lean on one of the machine's legs so that her own legs wouldn't be sore so much from standing straight, plus the suit was buckled down around the body so it wouldn't be messed around with by others, so it could take her body weight just fine as she glanced over at the Na'vi, seeing as she would not be too much of a threat if she was relaxed and not aggressive-like.

This female thing didn't seem so threatening anymore. In fact, Marali was relatively confident that outside of her "Wild Panther", Katelyn was extremely vulnerable. Even more so than Marali herself was. She considered trying to climb the monster before her, but decided that she should attempt to remain as docile looking as possible. There was no reason to aggravate the human, even if it was a mild inconvenience. As the thing spoke, Marali didn't realize what it was saying. What poured from its mouth was gibberish. She retraced their conversation, and realized it must be her name. Katelyn. She repeated it again and again in her head before speaking, to ensure she would pronounce it properly. The less stupid she felt, the less agitated she felt. "Katelyn?" It rolled off her tongue nicely, thought it was a foreign sound. She turned to Katelyn and rested her left hand on her chest above her heart. "Oe Marali," she said firmly. She remembered the last time she was with Eywa, at the Tree of Souls. There, she had learned of the Sky People. "Nga tawtute?" She didn't remember much about the Sky People, but knew they had brought the Na'vi a time of much sorrow, and a brilliant leader. (Oe Marali. = I'm Marali.) (Nga tawtute? = [Are] you Skyperson?)

Katelyn could admit, unlike Txe'lan, this Na'vi seemed very interested in the suit that she drove just by watching her look at it, and she could tell by the girl's eyes that she wanted to climb the thing to get a better look at it. Though it seemed that she knew better about things like that, and decided to stay on the ground, it was probably the best, because curios did kill the cat, and Katelyn didn't believe that these Na'vi had nine lives either.
After a little bit of time, the Na'vi had said out her own name back to her, and once more she gave off a nod of approval to her so she could understand what she had said back to her was indeed right, even if it was said just a little oddly said for any english speaker's liking. Then the Na'vi seemed to give off her own name, obviously it was Marali as it was merely two words, and her name wouldn't be 'I'm' in the least. It also seemed that the Na'vi tend to put their hands right in the area of where the heart should be placed, so it was probably something that she had to do when introducing herself to other Na'vi she meets.
Though the next question she asked of her was a little unusual. It wasn't that she couldn't understand it what Marali had said to her, it was just the question all in itself. Was she a Sky Person? Really? Katelyn knew that she was indeed, it's just that this Na'vi should have heard stories of them or something, since Txe'lan's first question to her had the word Sky Person in it, meaning he must have known some things about them from previous incidents.
Even so, she couldn't leave the Na'vi hanging for a question, and just told her out her answer the best she could with her knowledge of their language.
"Srane, 'upe made you guess?"
She said sarcastically and looked around the cleared land around here. It was really bothering her that it was so clear with no tree growth in the land, and this Na'vi probably knew more than she did, so it wouldn't hurt to ask her.
"Peseng fìpo tseng?"

This female was no longer threatening, at least not in her position, but was still a source of curiosity, awe, and stories. She'd heard very little of the Sky People in her childhood. Her parents had never told many stories, and there were so many opinions on the origins and appearance of the Sky People, that Marali had never been sure what exactly they were supposed to look and sound like.
There was certainly no suggestion that they could speak the native language, if brokenly. The female said something, but Marali couldn't understand it. The first two words clarified that she was a Sky Person, but the second half was spoken in another language. Marali narrowed her eyes, thinking.
She shifted the bow on her shoulder so that it was more firmly seated and twirled an arrow lazily in her fingers. The Sky Person, Katelyn, asked a question in Na'vi. What is this place? Marali turned, making brief eye contact. This place is one she'd heard stories of, the only link she knew to the Sky People. How could one of them not know? She was confused, but chose to share what she knew. She remembered the feeling of brokenness that encircled this place and wished she could heal it.
"Utral Aymokriyä. fìtseng(e) kelku si mokri pizayu. Ketuwong. Kxangangang. Txep." She pointed to the earth, then made a slashing motion. Once alive, it was now dead. Destroyed.
(Utral Aymokriyä. fìtseng(e) kelku si mokri pizayu. Ketuwong. kxangangang. Txep. = Tree of Voices. In this place dwells [the] voice [of the] ancestors. Dead. Boom. Fire.)

Even though Katelyn knew for sure that this Na'vi wasn't going to hurt her by now, she just constantly kept her guard up around the creature just incase it had second thoughts about her, maybe it was because she knew that a average Na'vi could just slaughter a small human such as herself, and that always brought a shiver in her spine, especially being in the Armed Forces where you almost felt invincible in some standards, but she had her cost on those thoughts, with the gashes that run around her back from her first mission. It was an idea someone should never get sown into their heads, and at least there would be one less idiot on the battlefield.
Though when she saw Marali narrowing her eyes for a moment, Katelyn back away from her for just a moment. It wasn't that she knew that she was going to attack her or anything, it was just a safety precaution just incase this Na'vi for some reason had gotten hostile on her. But for what? She just asked a simple question, and it wasn't like she knew the entire bloody planet, that was what GPS's were meant for. But it seemed that the Na'vi had answered her question, and of course it was in their native tongue. Giving a moment to think through on what she had said to her, and funneling it with the knowledge that she already knew of the words. Finally she came up with the answer, and looked back at Marali again, so it was the Sky People who did this, and Marali had even given a demonstration by making a big gash into the dirt.
"Oe sorry..."
She mumbled out as she rubbed the back of her neck a little, it was something she did when she felt ashamed sometimes. It was just so horrible to know what the humans were able to do, and they had a planet or two to show their damage. It was just a dreadful thing to witness, especially to a planet like this.

Marali had calmed considerably, and now circled the huge suit curiously, trying to push the explanation she'd just given Katelyn from her mind. She didn't want to think about the pain and loss. She'd heard the stories, felt the tearing of roots and earth, but didn't see it. Thinking of it made it more vivid, which was something she didn't want. She wanted it erased, though that didn't seem possible, as it was brought of often during storytelling. She noticed Katelyn step back out of the corner of her eyes, but mostly ignored the action. Silly human. Marali couldn't deny her interest in this thing and it's walking exoskeleton, but she was growing weary. remembering the destruction of her home left her drained.
When Katelyn apologized, Marali wasn't sure what her intention was. It was not this human's fault, certainly. Could they live that long? She doubted it. They looked to be quite fragile. Perhaps she was referring to her ancestors. Either way, the Na'vi female said nothing, but inclined her head gracefully, accepting Katelyn's apparent submission. She wondered how the white-skinned female had gotten here. Was it one of these suits? Could humans walk through space, time, air, on clouds? Skeptical, Marali thought to ask, but wasn't very interested. Even if they claimed to be able to, she probably wouldn't believe them. The only thing she knew of flying was her rides on Tsanten, her Ikran, her favorite pet.
He helped her to touch the sky. Finally, after several minutes of looking and wondering, Marali stepped forward, and touched the side of the contraption before her. She pulled back quickly. It was colder than the air, not warm like something alive, and slippery. Confused, she glanced in Katelyn's direction, but still said nothing, shifting her hold of he bow to the opposite shoulder. There was a lot more she wanted to learn of these Sky People, but her throat was closed. She could think of no words, no questions, only accusations and sadness. Troubled, she closed her eyes for a moment, trying to bring Eywa into her heart.

As most humans were, there was still the cautious feeling that still weighed Katelyn down to being fully comfortable to near this Na'vi. She didn't even understand why she even felt like this, she was being taught by a Na'vi in the first place, so why was she so nervous about this new Na'vi around? It wasn't because of the weapons that she possessed with her, for she had a pistol on her side in case if she was to by any chance attack her with a change of heart. No, it was most likely that this girl had been walking around her suit with curiosity glimmering in her eyes, she could be looking for weak-points for all she knew, but she wasn't one to say that was what she was doing in the first place, and just wanted to look at this thing for herself.
She had to admit, the things that the humans used were far more different from what the Na'vi had used in their daily lives, and could not grasp the idea of how to use such things that did not seem like their own weapons or equipment, and it was probably for the best. Evolution was just a bitch to some people, but it really did help keep them alive just a little long, with the price of every living thing being eaten away under their savage loom, it was just a mess indeed.
"You uhh... You fifya, my metal makto. Set rä'ä you? "
She asked with a small smirk that grew on the side of her mouth as she looked up at the blue cat woman with her arms behind her back. At least she could make some sort of small talk to the creature while she still could, and atg least she could show the nicer side in which a human could be in life, seeing as most of them would think they were savage and beastly creatures, especially with machines like what she had with her right now. At least this Na'vi wasn't seeming to want to go all out and hurt the human, for now that is, and that was enough to keep her satisfied for the time being, even if the Na'vi was going to decide to destroy the mutral friendship or not.
