History: Jacob was born to Stark and Annette Michaelis just a couple years before Earth was plunged into turmoil. He was an unplanned child, born of chaos and having to find mostly his own way in life with the rudimentary life skills taught to him by his mother and father. Jacob was a mostly quiet child, not having any complaints with the world or those in it, but he did not have many friends growing up, instead making friends with the things he built and mechanized. As his sister Natalie was the planned child, Jacob felt a little left out, detaching himself from his family as quickly as he was able to, opting to go for education and a career over spending time with his family.
Since mechanical engineers were high in demand at the time, Jacob took the coursework as his major, even before his years in high school were up. He was good at what he did, starting out with building small robots and giving them peculiar names such as “Serbo” and “Ratchet”, just so he’d have some mechanical friends of his own. When he got into schooling for mechanical engineering, Jacob quickly excelled and earned his licensures as well as a degree towards mechanical engineering, landing a job in the coordinated effort to transport people to the new planet they were calling Twrikth. He was in charge of making sure the shuttles were in ship-shape and had enough superconductor material to make the trip, just like many of the other engineers new to the field.
Finally his family caught onto the idea, his father and sister taking a shuttle different from the one that he and his mother were taking. His father had boarded Athena, and Jacob had come aboard Olympus. When the trip was set, Jacob and his mother went into cryostasis to enjoy the trip, but when Jacob woke up, he had a feeling (just by the lack of human presence alone) that this wasn’t the planet he’d agreed to be transported to… The planet he came to find himself on was Pandora, and despite the evidence of human activity, there weren’t as many there as he’d previously thought there would be. It was only then that he realized that his mother hadn’t survived the crashing of the shuttle, leaving him heartbroken for the longest time.
But Jacob’s resolve wouldn’t let him down; no, he found a way to cope with the loss, figuring he’d be here for a while so he might as well make the most of it, doing what he was good at: fixing up the machines and making sure the rest of the humans who had survived the trip would have a somewhat comfortable stay.----------------------------------------------The Present----------------------------------------------

Personality: Jacob is not the most sociable of people; his rough social history has led him to be detached mostly from humans and has a greater love for machines simply for their inherent apathy. While this might seem like a sociological disorder, Jacob simply prefers the company of machines more so than he does humans. While he can hold a conversation, he would rather talk about anything but himself; he takes a long time to open up to people with consistent effort, no matter if it’s a guy, girl, or a superior. If he does manage to make friends with someone, he will do what he can to hold onto them, no matter what the cost.
One interesting thing to note about Jacob is that he has a great understanding for documented history and culture. Because of this aptitude, he finds symbolic meanings in patterns of behavior and is able to catch onto them fairly quickly, including languages, customs, practices, and diplomacy; this is one of his motivations for engaging in Parkour. He can be a very good diplomat if given the chance, but he would prefer not to if he can avoid it because of its inherent social requirements. He is also notably good at diffusing a heated situation unless that situation involves him directly.
As far as his habits and stuff goes, Jacob has quite a few quirks; one is that he’s a smoker, another is that he is a sort of self-contained genius, and he has a variety of unusual pub tricks and simple talents. He will often find something unusual to do in order to pass the time, whether it be juggling some wrenches, creating a water-purification fountain, or practicing his aim with all sorts of things from bullets to playing cards.
Feelings toward the Na'vi: Jacob respects the Na’vi as the dominant species of the planet and will not interfere with them unless they pose a threat to him or any other human.
Feelings about Pandora: Knowing that there is Unobtanium here (which is valuable to his mechanical engineering needs), Jacob likes this planet other than all the biological stuff that would like to make a meal or trophy out of him…
Response to Authority: The base is his home, so he will never cause problems unless someone isn’t taking care of their machines. However, he can be a stickler if someone decides to give him trouble.
Aspirations: Jacob wants to harmonize nature and technology, hoping to utilize the planet’s natural resources in a Pandoran-eco-friendly manner and allow humans to roam Pandora without the constant threat of death or opposition from the Na’vi.
